In the Farmers Weekly 12.6.26 the editorial states that cattle to cattle transmission is 17 times greater than badger to cattle transmission.
However that does not address the real problem namely where do cattle get the infection from in the first place – badgers. If we carry on as we are namely culling cattle then we will end up with no cattle and badgers multiplying across our lands given culling of badgers is banned.
Is that what the UK population wants ?
How do we feed our population without cattle?
One way would be to produce a vaccine that effectively immunises cattle from this disease even if that vaccine had to be provided annually at least we would be able to produce food for all.
Something has to be done other than talking or producing new strategies as we cannot continue to see cattle being taken off farms for slaughter ,and some being pregnant.
It just isn’t right that in this hi tech world we haven’t got the simplest of answers to such disease.
