Inheritance tax on farm land is right BUT

Let’s be clear inheritance tax on farmland should be charged at 40% and not 20% with regard to purchases of land by investors thereby complying with the original intention of the Government namely to target those investors looking to evade IHT by choosing to buy up farmland. That means the Government MUST change the legislation to provide exemption for working farmers . At a stroke that would reduce the market value of agricultural land as no longer would you have investor cash chasing agricultural land. Far better for farmers to buy up extra land to promote greater food security for UK.
